Conecta Security Update: Key Helper
Conecta Security Update: Key Helper
After the security alerts the other night, I immediately upgraded how Conecta manages its API credentials. As part of that response, I built a new internal security system called Key Helper, which manages and protects all API keys used by the platform.
Why This Was Needed
Conecta connects to many external platforms including AWS, Google Cloud, Stripe, Infobip, OpenAI, Zoom, and others. Each of these services requires API keys so systems can communicate securely.
As the platform has grown, so has the number of credentials required to run it. Before this upgrade, those keys existed across multiple configuration files and environments.
Today the platform manages 100+ integration keys, so Key Helper was built to centralize, organize, and secure them properly.
What Key Helper Does
Key Helper provides a secure system for managing all platform credentials in one place. It now:
- Organizes credentials by vendor so integrations are easier to manage
- Encrypts every stored key so raw secrets are never kept in plaintext
- Removes keys from scattered configuration files and stores them in a controlled environment
- Allows secure generation and rotation of secrets when needed
- Validates keys to ensure they belong to the correct service before being used
- Creates a single audit location showing which services are connected and how many keys exist
- Makes it easier to export keys safely to servers during infrastructure deployments
In short, instead of keys living in many different places, everything is now centralized, encrypted, organized, and auditable.
Impact
This upgrade not only improves security, it also makes it significantly easier to manage the growing number of integrations Conecta depends on.
You may have noticed some temporary login or password reset issues while the security work was being completed. Those were related to the changes being deployed and should now be resolved.
Nothing was compromised, but the platform is now more secure, more organized, and easier to maintain going forward.
If you notice anything unusual or have trouble accessing something, feel free to message me and I will take a look.
Thank you for your patience while this work was completed.
